A review of the mobile racing game Real Racing 3

In 2013, Real Racing 3 was released for iOS. Many fans of the game were captivated by the racing simulator. But it was difficult for Android users: they waited for the Android version of the application for just over a month, and it only functioned on top devices. How did the development of the best racing game on iOS end?

The beginning of the gameplay

The first time you are greeted by someone who will tell you and show you just about everything. This is the most important stage in the tutorial. It will be presented with the main types of competition and you’ll be shown around the garage and familiarised with the service. You’ll need the latter to fix the car.

In the iOS game, in order to have your car repaired, you have to wait for a certain amount of time or pay a certain amount of donation coins. At the start there will be a lot of them, so that the player gets used to and begins to feel less discomfort.

Garage allows you to significantly improve the appearance of your car. There are four components that can be used to improve the chassis: the engine, the drive unit, the brakes and the tyres. To improve performance, the first thing you need to do is buy new parts that improve performance.

By editing the exterior, it is possible to change it beyond recognition. At the moment, many modding models are locked, and to unlock them you must pass pilot level or buy them for gold.

There are a large number of vehicles available. These include 13 cars from BMW. And there are two cars belonging to Bentley.

Controls and gameplay

According to the developers, in terms of gameplay, Real Racing 3 for iOS can be noted for its customization. There’s the option to control both the regular gyroscope and steering controls.  If you’re a fan of the action genre, you should turn off all the assistants, as the automation takes away from the realistic look of the game.

The graphics in Real Racing are average. The project is 5 years old and GRID Autosport looks much better. Perhaps even the new Asphalt will be more visually appealing. Despite this, it can be noted that Real Racing is not negative to the eye. The cars are well drawn and there are no complaints about them.

There are four views of the car in the race. All of them are normal, only the interior is made more realistic and beautiful. You can see reflections in the mirrors. Playing in this mode is much more comfortable than in third person.

During testing on the iPhone X, an unpleasant nuance can be detected. When you change gear, the view gets a little closer to the car. This is often accompanied by a microlag. It’s hard to notice, but it’s very annoying. Apparently, some of these small delays occur in a wide variety of locations. I won’t blame this on the powerful processor of the “ten”, but rather lay the blame on poor optimization from the developers.

There are plenty of options to choose from. In the quarry, there are shuttles. There are quite a few of them. We get coins for our work. Depending on the difficulty level of the career, it can be completed at different levels.
