Overboard game review

The story tells of a ship leaving England for New York, and it’s 1935. Starlet Veronica and her husband Malcolm, who have lost a lot of money after a series of investments, want to go in search of a better life. But the wife has very different plans and throws her husband off the ship at night. So what happens next?

And that’s where the user himself comes into play, who will be reliving the same day and Veronica’s life. Here you just have to get into the role of the criminal and try to get away with it.

You have to figure out right away if there are any witnesses who have seen at least silhouettes, if there are any suspicions about this, how is the overall attitude on the ship now? And you have to try to answer all these questions over time, and then everything will make sense. 8:00, Veronica wakes up in her cabin and eats only eight hours until the ship docks at her destination. So we have to act.

Of course, the most trivial thing that can happen is that Veronica is found guilty and sent to prison. But you can try to make things right. You need to know who to talk to and what to do. How to get through to a certain person without saying anything unnecessary.  Maybe you can convince everyone that he killed himself or it was just an accident. But in the end you also have to get insurance.

So here the player has a wide range of options and possibilities of what can be done. The map immediately shows how long it will take to get to a certain point, and the person who is there is displayed.  There are several characters in the game, and everything needs to be discussed with them. The dialogues are extensive, and you have to be careful not to miss anything. Sometimes you have to trick people to get your way.

There is a quest element to the game as an addition, and you can stack inventory or items that are accumulated during your travels. But you have to understand that all of this takes time, which is already scarce.

The interaction in the game deserves a special mention; everything is designed very nicely. But again, you don’t need to spend a lot of time studying absolutely everything.

How to play Overboard

What else do you need to know?

After the first time the player has gone through the game, there are several handy and useful features. First of all, the selected actions and dialogues begin to be highlighted. And now there is an opportunity to rewind the dialogue. And if required, you can even restart the scene.

As time goes on, some hints appear in the story. There are questions that can help you find the best solution. For example, the game tells you that you’d better sneak someone into a room and look there.

But on the other hand, passing is not time-consuming, so you can do without the notes, it all depends on the player’s desire.  In any case, more and more information about the characters gradually emerges, so that there is an understanding of how best to interact.

Of course, after a while the game will seem monotonous, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth the time and attention.
