Children of the light is a new third-person project. It’s an arcade adventure from Journey. In the virtual world, the player will have to cope with a challenging plot, trying to bring the stars home in Sky: Children of the light.
It only takes one playthrough to realize the developers have worked hard on this project. The arcade game looks really amazing. In spite of the primitive gameplay, the game has something to impress the users.
The mobile version is executed identically to the full game. The locations are the same: the player has seven worlds to traverse. As in other Journey projects, the plot is quite minimalistic. There are some differences: this time you won’t be led by the hand through the game. To get into the gameplay, you’ll have to figure it out on your own without any hints.
At the start you are given a winged character and lo and behold, you can go exploring the world. To travel through the sky, the character needs light sources.
The storyline isn’t that important here. It gradually fades into the background. Your hero finds himself in a world where no stars exist. The character must do something about it. The idea may seem a bit abstract. Yes, it is.
The story itself is designed only to keep users interested. But it’s not the story itself that draws you in, it’s the empathy for the protagonist.
As you play, you will meet other characters who are doing the same good deed – collecting lights for the return of the celestial luminaries. You can’t just write a standard message. You can only talk to other players with gestures. This is a rather unusual introduction.
At first, it may seem that cooperation is useless. But as time goes by, you will realise that as you complete more tasks, there is an increasing need for teamwork. This is required not so much for the game, but for the feeling. This way, you won’t feel alone in a celestial world.
Once the characters have taken up arms, co-operation takes place. The first character becomes the main character, he leads the second one. In Children of Light, you won’t encounter the standard struggle for leadership. Given the layout and storyline, you won’t even think about competing.
All the stories immediately captivate any player. Thus, the developers try as much as possible to interest the user, so that nothing distracted him from exploring the world.
We know nothing about the protagonist. The only thing the game makes clear is the hero, who has to return the stars to the sky. We don’t know where this character or the world itself came from. You are immediately thrown into the story and you set about the main task.
The game itself is very distinctive. This project stands out among the masses of other popular games of famous developers. You will not find the most exciting plot. There is no shooting or large-scale missions. However, Children of Light can give you something else. It is a relaxing game that will put you in the mood for daydreaming and brighten up your free evening.
